Sara-i 'Adl

Sara-i 'Adl
A warehouse or market place built by 'Ala al-Din Khalji (1296-1316) at Delhi where the merchants were obliged to bring their wares and sell them to local distributors at fixed prices. It was again at this place that the taxes to be levied on goods brought to market were calculated. The institution continued to function in one form or another until Firuz Shah Tughlaq's time (1351-1388).
